Search input field not focused after clicking search icon

When I click on the search icon (the magnifying glass), the search field opens — but the cursor is not automatically focused in the input field. I have to click again inside the field before I can start typing.
Could this be adjusted so that the cursor is automatically placed in the search field when it opens?
