Google Maps API Key - Map doesn't work

Posted by: prysmal Feb 1, 2022 at 03:38 (3 year ago)
Hello.. On my contact page I am trying to get the Google Map to work. It worked without putting an API key for some reason, but I know that creating an API key is something that I have to do. I created an API key the same way I always do for my other projects and I set the Google Maps API Key in Elementor's Integrations Settings. I have the following APIs enabled:

    Geocoding API
    Geolocation API
    Maps JavaScript API
    Places API

I have not restricted the key yet and for some reason, I get an error on my contact page where the map is supposed to be, saying "Google Maps Platform rejected your request. This API project is not authorized to use this API."

What do I have to do in order to get the map to work with my API key??

    Hi prysmal
Could you please provide wp-admin + ftp or Cpanel accounts via secret information area? I would like to check in your site and guide you

I have put my log in information below in the secret information section. Thanks. Please note that I have removed my API key from the site since the map seems to be working without it. But please let me know why it's not working with API key.

Is it also possible you guys can help me fix an annoying glitch with the header of the theme? This happens in your demo as well. Because the header gets a fixed class on scroll, it causes the content to jump up when the header reaches the top of the viewport.. Can this be fixed so that when scrolling down it is smooth without any jumping? It makes viewing certain content on the screen a bit frustrating in some cases. Here's a video of the issue: https://youtu.be/atBuOk90xGA

Also.. there is another bug. The icons on the top right of the header "My Account" and "Your Cart" icons, they are linked to the correct pages, but when it is clicked, it doesn't go to the page it says that it's linked to. I'm guessing this is because it is a dropdown, since the Wishlist one works fine. But this is poor UX since it confuses the user when the link doesn't work after it is clicked, even when it shows it is linked to a page. Can this be changed? I would like the My account and Your Cart to the top right of the header to be linked to the pages respectively when it is clicked. See attached..

Sorry, but I found yet another bug.. On the shop page, the Order By "Sale" option is not working as intended. Isn't this supposed to show the items on sale in the shop? It doesn't seem to do that on your demo or my site. Sorry for all the messages.. Just pointing out the bugs I find.

    Hi prysmal
    1) You don't need the key because google map is already embedded there
    2) About sticky menu: It's the jQuery issue and you should choose the Template mode as the attachment file

    Okay great. Thank you!

What about the other issues I reported with the Order by filter in the shop and the cart and account icons on the header not going to the linked page since it has a dropdown? It only works if I right click and open in new tab.

    Hi prysmal
About the icons on the top right of the header "My Account" and "Your Cart" icons. It's the default of the theme design. If you have any change then you have to customize it. I just sent a video vía your email.
    Please check it

I saw the email. But you misunderstand what I mean.. You were logged out when you clicked on the My Account link on the header right? So there was no dropdown. Only when you're logged in, it shows the dropdown with menu items "Dashboard, Orders, Downloads, Addresses etc." When there's a dropdown on those links, you are not able to click the actual "My account" link with the icon on the header. Same goes for the Cart link on the header. I should be able to click the "Your Bag" link on the header and have it go straight to the cart page instead of hovering over it, then going to the dropdown and clicking "View Bag"... Let me know if you understand.. If it can be fixed, then i'll just have to leave it as it is, but it will help improve UX I think since it's less steps a user has to take to get to where he wants to go.

I also have one more need, please.

I changed the sticky header to Template instead of jQuery and it works fine. But I want to change the scroll distance from when the sticky header activates. Right now it activates too soon, and ends up showing both the sticky navigation and normal navigation at a certain point. I want to make it so that after I scroll past the normal navigation, then the sticky navigation shows. Where can I edit this in the Javascript? Can you please help? :(

Hey. I think I have another issue with the Google Maps integration in the theme? I am using the plugin "NextMove Thank You Pages for WooCommerce" and there is a component on their plugin that allows you to put a Google Map on the Thank You/Order Received page of WooCommerce and the map can show the Shipping Address, Billing Address or a custom address. I have it set to show the Shipping Address of the customer, however it shows a completely different address to that which was entered by the customer. I already reached out to XLPlugins who is the developer of the NextMove plugin and they said it is not an issue on their plugin, since they are just using the Google Maps integration that already exists, so I assume it is a problem with the theme coding?

    Goodmorning @prysmal
The author of theme said that there are a lot of plugins and they are not able to check the theme compatibility with those plugins. In this case then you have to fix by yourself or connect to customized services, they will check and help you. I am really sorry because i do not support for customize work.
Thank you and have a nice day!
