From dashboard choose Appearance>>Menus>>Primary menu>>Setting as the attachment file below

And then change the submenu item width as the attachment file. Please try to resize and let me know your results

Sorry that's not what I want. I want the submenu to be this large, but originally the size of the menu is for 4 submenus, now I have only 2 hence I want the size of the whole menu downsize to just enough to hold 2 submenus, without extra space
