    The megamenu, it does not level 2. In your case then you can create a new class at the child theme as the image 1 and add into megamenu as image2.

    And I also still do not understand the old and new theme you said above.
    You are using the theme version 3.x with the VC template of the theme. Pls make it clears then I will check again for you
