Vertical menu

Hi,
I have a problem with vertical menu in header n. 1 (ping one).
I tried to translate it. I edited .po and .mo files in theme. Everything works well until 1st click on „All categories“ under vertical menu. Then it is in English again – probably because of javascript use different variable.
Another annoying thing is “All categories/close” under vertical manu itself. Even when I have less amount of item than is set, it is displayed all the time. I cannot get rid of it.
Another thing is very unpleasant. The item categories in top menu is clickable just on the right icon – not all over the item including text.
Can I change it somehow without changing source code of theme (need updates).
