Please let me know which device do you want to remove the social icons? Mobile or Desktop?
Then my coder will give you the correct css code to do it

We were trying to figure out why there were calls to social media sites that did not have any widgets or pixels placed on our site and thought that these links could be doing it. Is that possible or are these just simple outbound links?

They are just the outbound links. In case you want to receive a call, you have to install another plugin to handle it.
