Missing photo size options in posts

Updated to the Turan theme and going back through my blog posts to reformat them to fit. Photos have blown up - to fix I must select all and hit "clear formatting". But when I do, wordpress removes the ability to change photo sizes. When I click each photo and hit "edit" the size options go away. I've attached a screenshot.
Also, photo size options do not change when wordpress media settings are updated. I've updated them to be "750px max width" but when adding *new* photos to blog posts, large option still says 900 x 900
