Add in homepage a div with image background and editable text

Good morning guys,
I would like to add in my homepage two responsive div with a photo as a background and editable text on it. I have tried lot o times but I couldn't do it. I would that div and image width is 100% (obviously with the same padding right and left of template and others element) and height always the same of other homepage's photos so 435 px, and image inside adapt its dimension automatically.
On it, I want to add some text easy to customize and edit.
How can I do it?
I have tried to create some div class and div id in global.css but it didn't work.
Could you help me?
