Remove List Selection From Subscribe To Newsletter Footer

Hi,
1. How do I remove the list selection from the newsletter optin box in the footer? It doesn't make sense to use this if there is only ONE list to select from. See attachment 05-remove-from-newsletter.png
2. Where do I change this error message? It isn't grammatically correct. See attachment 06-change-this-error-message.png
