Search box (filters) apply to everything?

Hello!
I need to understand how to use the search box. I use in the main site the Header style 8. I would like to know if the search box (of color, of price and size) that I saw in the header 5 (http://kutethemes.net/wordpress/kuteshop/option5/product-category/fashion/beauty/), can also be used in the header 8.
Then I would like to know, the search box to what are applied? To Categories, Subcategories or a Brand?
