When you say

"Upload this zipped file to your site (via FTP or Cpanel) in the root folder" do you mean on the theme root folder? Or in the prestashop root folder?

Please refer the attachment below. You need upload the image zip. file into the folder that contain your theme file. Then unzip that file.
