    PHP update

    I see a message that I should update my php to 5.6 however when i have my host update, my site goes down. My host said that it's because my theme needs to be updated so it can work with php 5.6
    Can you help me with this issue?

    My host told me that I cannot upgrade to PHP 5.6 because my website isn't compatible with 5.6. Because when i do update, my website breaks completely, so they had to bring it back to PHP version 5.3
    The reason i wanted to update is because inside my wordpress, one of the errors it told me i should update to php 5.6
    do you think this is necessary?
